There are times when a student doesn’t desire to buy a classic book to read but instead can find it online for free. Many of these books have been around hundreds of years and it is special to see the advancement of technology. This advancement is to the point where these classics can be found online and easily downloaded on an e-book reader or cell phone.
1. Openculture
Openculture is a free cultural and educational media on the internet. The site offers a plentiful amount of free resources including free textbooks, free courses, and much more. This site is the perfect site to obtain free materials for your classes or just increasing your overall knowledge.
Project Gutenberg is the first producer of free ebooks, and is the most known for their extensive e-book catalog. They offer over 36,000 of free books that can easily download to a person's portable device, PC, and Kindle. Users can choose between ePub, Kindle, HTML, and simple text formats. They list their books by book search, recently added books, and bookshelves by topic, mobile site, and top downloads.
3. Amazon.com
Amazon does have their own collection of free ebooks available. These include free classics and out-of copyright, pre-1923 books. These classics can easily be transferred onto the Kindle e-book reader, transferred via USB to the Kindle, or read on the Kindle for PC or Kindle for Mac options. They do note that the many of the ebooks are scanned copies of physical books and the quality varies.
